PLATFORM - SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGED GROWTH
-
Represent residents’ interests in development approval process
-
Balance the growth needs of our Town with the natural and cultural resources and ecosystems upon which our economy is based.
-
Plan for variable densities across our urban areas in consideration of our heritage and environment.
-
Complete and update secondary plans and develop strong and clear zoning by-laws to implement our Official Plan objectives.
-
View Official Plan amendments as an exception to the rule, not as a norm
-
Ensure that all plans are complementary e.g. OP, secondary plans, transportation plans, parks and recreation plans, tourism, etc.
-
Advocate for holistic planning decisions, not piecemeal approvals
-
Seek information on stormwater management at application stage instead of waiting for site plan stage where Council does not get approval option.
-
Advocate to review stormwater criteria in light of climate change
-
Consider Low Impact Development (LID) or green infrastructure for new development areas e.g. Glendale
